It's a pretty sad place overall. No one is social at all. People are either willing to help you or give you the cold shoulder. Half the population follows the strict rules in place, the other half don't. Like talking on subways and how to go around stairs. Our subway is similar where people get on to go to work. But people are alive. Not as depressed. Then again with this heat, I would be depressed if I lived here too. For example, we were paying for a drink and was trying to ask the cashier a question. Literally didn't care to answer at all unless we paid. Super rude. But she wasn't the only one. I guess overall it's not much different then any other large metro. Just had a different perspective going in.
No one really knows which side to walk on because it jumps from side to side. I swear even locals have no clue. In the same building you can go from walking on the left to walking on the right. It makes no sense. These two photos were taken 200 feet apart.
The best way I seen it explained, Japan was in the year 2000 since 1980s. They are still in the year 2000. It's wild that outside of the subway (which most of the major metros in north America/the world has) they are really outdated. Maybe add the toilets if you like bidets.
Granted they are the only place you can get a Lovot, so there is that.
The Instagram culture here in Japan is insane. It's everywhere! What am I referring too? Girls trying to get picture perfect shots. That wouldn't be half bad if they weren't dressing up fully, in blazing heat so that they can publish a photo. I know the immediate thought it tourists. Nope. Locals. We are in a McDonald's getting a drink and there is a full photoshoot beside us. It happens everywhere. It's absolutely insane.
IT IS HOT! We had to buy fans and jump around from store to store to get AC.
Most of our trip was under "Excessive Heat Warning".
Note to self: don't travel to Japan during the summer.
